Leaks
The ‘leaks’ aspect of my DA is posted to my Instagram story when a new piece of clothing or shoe is first shown to the public. It has always included a poll which asks whether my followers would purchase the piece or not, with the aim of increasing engagements and perhaps starting conversation. Because of the consistently high number of views (relative to my other posts) as well as the level of engagement, I have chosen to keep this aspect of my DA the same for the time being, with only minor visual changes being made.
Blog Posts
Initially each of my Instagram posts detailing where to purchase an item had a corresponding blog post, which had a short summary of what the item is, and direct links to the different websites which sold the item. Due to the lack of views of the blog posts compared to the Instagram posts, I concluded that it was of secondary importance and was somewhat arbitrary. This led to a change in my project where I no longer made blog posts, but instead tagged each of the stores Instagram in my main posts so that users could find the required websites themselves.
Weekly Grails
This is the newest aspect of my DA, where I post a few items each week that are on my wish list, as well as asking my followers for some of their grails which I can post in the following week. After just the first week I have had several conversations with followers about their wish list items and this is likely evidence of its success, although it is too early to tell.
What’s Next for W2C?
Although Where2Cop has had some changes made during the prototyping process, primarily based off of users feedback, the fundamental purpose remains unaltered. As my DA continues to develop in the ‘making’ stage I hope to implement a number of features which further increase Where2Cop’s following and engagement. The first of these additions will be the ‘brand spotlight’, where each week I will outline a contextually relevant brand in the form of Instagram stories.
